Carry On Flying Quiz Night - 21/02/2015

Epsom Rotaract returned to Leatherhead Parish Church Hall for our Carry On Flying Quiz in aid of Surrey Air Ambulance (http://www.kssairambulance.org.uk/).

There were Surrey and flying themed rounds on Surrey, Sport, History, Music and Food and Drink plus a picture round on transport related films and a cryptic round on Surrey Towns and Villages. Epsom Rotaractor John Bishop was the quiz master for the evening and club mascot Super Ted was nearby looking out for any cheaters! There were 19 teams, 133 quizzers and 11 Epsom Rotaractors on the night.

A crowd of 144 people attended the event including Dennis from Surrey Air Ambulance who gave a speech at the beginning of the night.

Everyone in the club came out to support this event, whether it was to set up, run the bar, do the scoring, distribute food, welcome guests or clear up. A big thanks to Katie for co-ordinating the event and doing a lot of the organisation beforehand. Also to Chris for booking the hall and placing the food order, to Dan for doing the scoring on the night and to alumni David for his help with the accounts.

In the end £1600 was raised for Surrey Air Ambulance! A brilliant figure!

Our Vice President Katie said "Surrey Air Ambulance is a charity, which is very close to the hearts of club members and our fundraising for them is in memory of a friend and club member who sadly passed away suddenly in 2013. It is fantastic that we have raised another £1,600 for this great local charity with our Carry On Flying Quiz. This builds on the success of our fundraising efforts for the charity last year, when our sponsored walk up Snowdon in June raised nearly £3,300."

It was a brilliant night. Fantastic to see so many local Rotaractors and Rotarians and of course everyone's family and friends. A massive thank you to everyone who supported and helped with the event and congratulations to Amy's team who won!
