Rotaract's sponsoring club Epsom Rotary staged a charity ball at Reigate Manor Hotel in aid of the Alzheimers Society. President Colin Peel holds a special place in his heart for this charity, as his wife sadly passed away due to Alzheimers a few years ago. This made everyone all the more determined to make it a night to remember!

Epsom Rotaract was well represented that night with a table of 8 people. There were speeches, an auction, a disco and perhaps most importantly, a raffle. A great evening was had by all. Well done to Colin Peel, Derek and Sue Hockin, Terry Maggs, Richard Harris and everyone else involved who organised the ball.
But back to the a raffle. It's a great way to raise money in its own right. But why was the raffle even more important than usual you ask?
Well, firstly Anthony won something. That's not unusual, you might say and its not (although it was the only prize Rotaract won). Secondly, he gave the ticket to his girlfriend Ellie. "What's wrong with that?" I hear you cry. "Leave Anthony and Ellie alone!"
The raffle was more important because of the sheer picture of happiness on Ellie's face when she came back to our table. Which prize did she pick? The wine? The camera equipment vouchers? The racing tickets? No.
She instead emerged with the quilt of her dreams!

Ellie marvelled at the craftwork and sheer softness of the quilt. Some of us laughed, as Anthony had missed out on camera vouchers for this. That'll teach him to give Ellie his raffle ticket (only kidding Ellie)! The evening then finished with a disco.
Overall, £4000 was raised for the Alzheimers Society a brilliant number and a very successful evening!
