Operation Christmas Child (http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk) the world's largest children's Christmas project, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse. Participants have been sending gift-filled shoeboxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy and the hope into the lives of over 94 million underprivileged children.
Last year, children and adults from across the UK got involved - including many churches, schools and workplaces - wrapping, packing and sending nearly 1.1 million shoeboxes full of gifts to disadvantaged children.
Epsom Rotaractors continued their proud tradition this year. Rotaractors headed to the shops and purchased toys, games, crayons and many more items. We then took the goodies back to the function room of the Rising Sun pub. Once wrapped, the boxes (along with other boxes already wrapped by Rotaractors not present that morning) were placed in Robs car. Rob then forwarded the gifts to a contact at his workplace who despatched the gifts to a local drop off point linked with the project (such as a local church).
As a thank you to the pub Rotaractors then finished the event with a pub lunch. A thoroughly satisfying event all round!
