Epsom Rotaractors attended a presentation at the Ebbisham Ward of Epsom General Hospital. It was to present a neonatal Sure Signs monitor for use at the Ebbisham ward. This equipment was purchased with some of the money raised from our Great British Quiz.
This was of personal significance to outgoing Rotaract President John. He was born in Epsom General Hospital a month prematurely and stopped breathing when he was born. A hospital nurse revived him and saved his life.
Bess Harding of Epsom Medical Equipment Fund and Senior Sister Jane McCourt (pictured) attended the presentation along with Rotaract representatives.
Jane had this to say about the equipment:
"It is in incredibly hard to monitor blood pressure in very small babies and we need to have this piece of equipment because its very sensitive and therefore able to pick up very minute changes in babies' blood vessels. Currently we only have a standard blood pressure machines which will not work very well with small babies. I can assure you that this monitor will be well used."
To top it off, club member and fashion student Jacky also added some resplendent letters and numbers to the back of a Rotaract shirt for the occasion. They displayed the name of the charity and the amount we raised. Overall, it was a great presentation for a worthy cause.
