Slindon 2015 - 06/03/2015 - 08/03/2015

We headed back to National Trust Slindon for an another weekend of conservation! This year veteran Slindon volunteers Wendy, Rob, Anthony and Phil were joined by Slindon newbies Katie, Ellie and Beth.

We arrived at base camp on Friday afternoon and after unpacking it was time for sausage butties followed by games.
Next an early evening walk to The George Pub in Eartham via the folly. We were treated to a spectacular sunset. We enjoyed a delicious meal and some local ales and cider and several games of Linkee before heading home.

We were up early on Saturday for breakfast and then headed out on the estate with our ranger Bob for tree felling and hazel coppicing. This was to improve the area as a habitat for dormice. Armed with our bow saws and loppers we got down to work.

After a very successful today we headed back to base for a relaxing evening of pizza, games and a few drinks.

On Sunday we were helping with a different project 'The Rise of Northwood'. The National Trust are returning 75 hectares of farmland to woodland on the Slindon estate. Find out more about the project on their blog (https://riseofnorthwoodnt.wordpress.com/). We spent the morning planting tree saplings.

A thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable weekend! A huge thank you to Wendy for organising,
