90th Annual Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) Conference - 10/04/2015 - 12/04/2015

A guest post from our incoming International Officer, Jasmyn, on the 90th Annual Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) Conference.

From Friday 10th to Sunday 12th April 2015, around 2,000 Rotarians and their partners from across the British Isles attended the 90th Annual Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) Conference in Belfast.

Over the course of the weekend delegates at the conference enjoyed an excellent programme of speakers, ranging from BBC journalist, Claire Savage, who talked about her upbringing in Northern Ireland at the height of the political troubles, and adventurer Sally Kettle, who has rowed across the Atlantic twice (including once with her mother!), to antiques expert, Eric Knowles and Olympic gold medal winner, Dame Mary Peters, who spoke about her own career as an international athlete, as well as her current work with aspiring young athletes through the Mary Peters Trust.

As well as the excellent conference sessions, there was a wide range of events throughout the weekend, including a tour around the very impressive Titanic Experience exhibition, where delegates also enjoyed a fork supper in a replica of the ship’s very luxurious banqueting hall, and a very entertaining free live concert, featuring song and dance acts from across the whole of Ireland.

Next year’s RIBI Conference will be held in Bournemouth, from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd April 2016. Excitingly, it will be a joint Rotary and Rotaract Conference!
