Sailing Trip in Southampton Weekend 1 - 9-11/09/2011

All aboard! Swanick Marina in Southampton was the setting for an epic club social. New club member Simon came up with the idea for this event. His family own a boat in Southampton and he generously offered to let club members use the boat for a pair of sailing weekends!

On this occasion, Andy, Alex and Stuart jumped on board the SS Simon (that's not what it's called - it just sounds appropriate). They parked up near the jetty and embarked onto the boat after a short dingy ride (which is moored in the centre of the river).

Destinations for the weekend where:
Friday Evening -- Hamble River to Folly Inn (Cowes - River Medina) for the night.
Saturday -- Newtown Creek for lunch, Bucklars Hard Marina for the night.
Sunday -- Return to the Hamble River

Here is a a GPS map for their route:

A great weekend was had by the lads with potential club member Alex remarking "I had a good time at the sailing weekend last week. Was really quite fun. Wind was a bit nippy on the Sunday though."

The next weekend is on the 23rd,24th and 25th September!
