Eurovision Party at Ellie's House 14/05/2011

New club member Ellie Coady is a Eurovision fan. This was out in the open after she confided with a number of club members. This led to the Eurovision party at her flat. Each person invited took a country out of a hat at a club meeting. They then had to bring food/drink to the party associated with that country.

There was German Salami, Swiss Roll and even White Russian! Each person had a badge for their chosen country emblazoned with a common name from that country. Some people even came dressed as their country! Caro and David donned togas for Greece; Amy and Rich wore Turkish gear in the form of a belly dance outfit and a fez (respectively); and Andy came dressed as a Russian, because it was more fun than his chosen country, Portugal. He also brought the home made White Russian as listed above, which was also much more fun.

There's
Andy and his White Russian in a flask!

Helena decided to score each act according to the opinion of those in the room and produced an average score. There were impromptu Mexican waves, cheering for the UK entry, Blue and much chatter throughout the evening. So much so, that it drowned out the commentary of the host, Graham Norton (no mean feat).

Sadly, Blue were unable to triumph on the night, despite accumulating 100 points (after briefly appearing at the top of the table). Nevertheless, the evening felt like a victory, because Ellie's Eurovision party had been a success. Well done Ellie!

UK were top of the leader board! Briefly.
