Royal British Legion 10th Annual Poppy Quiz - 06/06/2014

All Saints Hall in Ewell was the site for the 10th annual (and final) Royal British Legion quiz. Epsom Rotaract's team 'Pimm's o'clock' were in attendance as was the Mayor of Epsom Cllr Robert Foote, a long time member of the Royal British Legion (http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/).

Barb and Andy run the quiz
Organised by Epsom Rotarian Andy Ballard and compered his partner Barb Warwick, the quiz featured 6 rounds of questions, a fish and chip supper and a raffle. More on the raffle later.

John and Martin
Our team were hoping for success on this night as President John Bishop had brought along his brother Martin. Martin has been on both Countdown and 15 to 1 and is very knowledgeable. We were hoping he would be our secret weapon on the way to victory.

Alas, it was not to be . However, we still came a respectable 6th place out of 17 teams with 66 points.

However,
all was not lost! For Ellie won yet another raffle prize! This time, she won a tea pot and some jugs! Ellie was beaming as usual.

The winners of the quiz were 'Left Portsmouth at 10:30' who accumulated 94 points. They went home with first prize, which was 6 bottles of wine. A great night was had by all.

Most importantly, the quiz raised an impressive £702! Here's some comments from Barb about the quiz night:

"We have really gone out on a high...this is the most ever raised..............I am so thrilled and want to say thank you all, very much. Last job to do - I will add up the figures from each year , 2004/2014 , and let you know the 10 year total raised by all Poppy Quizzer friends , old and new.
All monies from the quizzes have gone to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal , which directly supports the people who need it most – our Armed Forces and their families, past and present.
The last 10 years have been so much fun, and I wouldn’t have missed doing them................honest !!"
Barb xx
