Volunteering at Race For Life at Epsom Downs - 29/06/2014

Volunteers from Epsom Rotaract attended the 5 and 10K races on the Epsom Downs for the 2014 Race For Life event!

They converged at the volunteer tent in the morning. Rotaractors had been allocated the duty of marshalling for the event. Each marshall had a marshall number. Some of the volunteers were also given walkie talkies. They could radio the site manager if there were any problems or if the final runner had gone by.

Epsom Rotaract President John Bishop, who volunteered on the day had this to say:
John (Marshall 11) with Walkie Talkie!

"Race For Life was great last Sunday, highly recommended as a community event. A positive vibe on the field, it was a good atmosphere, I enjoyed interacting with the runners who went by. Also liked radioing the guy in the Land Rover, who confirmed the final runners in the 10 and the 5k races, very cool. "

It was thankfully, a nice day weather wise and was an uplifting experience. Well done to everyone who participated on the day, especially the runners!
