Snowdon Trip - 20/06/2014 - 22/06/2014

Our second big fundraising event of the year was a sponsored Snowdon Walk in aid of Surrey Air Ambulance (http://www.kssairambulance.org.uk/) in memory of Epsom Rotaractor Simon, a great friend, partner of one of our club members and our Vice President.

On Friday we headed up to Llanberis and the farm which would be our base for the weekend. There were amazing views of Snowdonia from our cottage and we had a relaxing evening ahead of the walk.

On Saturday the walking team of Rob, Wendy, Rachel, Katie, Caro, Helen and Andy headed off bright and early to tackle Snowdon, leaving the cottage at 9:30am. Despite the weather looking misty at breakfast it was starting to brighten up and the weather looked promising for the day ahead.

To raise awareness of our cause in a fun way we spelt out 'SIMON' as a team and we had fun on the way up with a few anagrams.

We arrived at the summit around 1:30pm. Perfect timing to meet the train team and we celebrated our achievement with a bottle of champagne. The weather was amazing and the views all the way up were spectacular.

Having used the Llanberis (tourist) path on the way up we decided to take a different route down and took the Rangers Path. A rather steep descent and rather windy, but amazing views yet again. After a challenging, but very fun day, the walking team arrived back at the cottage at 6:45pm to the cheers of the welcoming party.

We finished off the day with a barbeque and a few drinks and the next morning headed home.

A brilliant weekend in memory of Simon and so far in online donation the walk has raised an amazing £1,306.42 (including gift aid) for Surrey Air Ambulance. Our sponsorship page (https://fundraisingkss.everydayhero.com/uk/epsomrotaractsnowdonwalk) is still open so if anyone would still like to donate, please do so. A huge thanks to everyone who has kindly donated so far, we really appreciate it.
