Members and friends of the club gathered in Epsom to collect and wrap presents for a worthy cause: Samaritan's Purse.
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas appeal with a heritage of 20 years. Every year Operation Christmas Child is made possible through the amazing support of thousands of children and adults in the UK and Ireland. Last year alone we had the nearly 1.2 million shoeboxes were sent, bursting with joy from the UK and over 200,000 from Ireland to children in parts of Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
Epsom Rotaractors congregated outside a local store in Epsom near the market at 10am. The group split into two. One team went to find boxes from local retailers. The other team headed to an established retailer known for selling items under €1.1690 to buy the presents.
The presents were bought for 'younger' (3-4 years, 5-9 years) and 'older' 10-14 years) boys and girls. The group then reconvened outside the store and headed to The Rising Sun in Epsom, who very kindly let us use their function room to wrap some presents!
After about an hour or so of wrapping, an impressive array of boxes were on display. The day was capped off by lunch in the pub. Well done to everyone who took part in the wrapping (even if it wasn't perfect!), taping, cutting sellotaping and purchasing.
