Anthony and
Ellie hosted their fantastic annual Eurovision evening again and it didn’t
disappoint. We all had a really fun evening, singing along, dressing up and
enjoying dishes from Ireland, Portugal, France, Sweden, Turkey, UK, Israel,
Greece, Switzerland and Belgium. Unfortunately the UK entry didn’t win, but at
least we had Graham Norton’s witty commentary to entertain us. Thank you
Anthony and Ellie for being brilliant hosts!
We invited Lorraine Rudge, the Rainbow Trust’sCommunity Fundraising Manager to one of our
club meeting to hear more about the Rainbow Trust’s work and to present her
with a cheque for £2,000 raised from our fundraising.
On the morning of 15th March 9 of us set off bound for
Slindon on the South Downs for what would turn out to be an action packed
weekend full of rain showers and sunshine. Welcome to Britain! Despite the rain
our spirits were not dampened (excuse the pun).
Our main fundraising event for the year was a
charity Valentine’s Day Quiz for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity (http://www.rainbowtrust.org.uk/) and was held at St Mary and St Nicholas Church Hall in Leatherhead. The Rainbow Trust supports families with children who have
life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas! The Rising Sun in Epsom was once again the site of our annual Christmas meal. A full house was present for a 3 course meal, complete with Christmas music, party poppers, crackers, Secret Santa and just general mucking about with poppers and string.
What do you want from me, blood? Well, yes. Epsom Rotaract club members Katie and John attended a blood donation session at Bourne Hall.
The ultimate community event, John and Katie donated their plasma to help those who may need it in the future. Katie was donating for an 18th time and John for his 1st.
